It is very important to realise that the self-conscious observer the “I” is not necessarily spiritual, it is very connected to the lower personality.
This is the lesson in Leo, we find that this sign can appear very “I” orientated with a very powerful and sometimes devastating personality. What Leo is doing is separating themselves from the pack, becoming the leader, but with this brings its own set of problems. The separation of the “I” from its “normal” attachments to dependence on the collective life in all its manifestations can create a crisis in consciousness. Those who experience being alone can become quite anxious and develop all kinds of evasion techniques in the form of anxiety problems and ill health, this is designed to encourage us to go within and recognise the only way to go is up, and so connect to the Soul.
So the personality arrives at a point of crisis, this is a crisis of reorientation. The prodigal Son returns and retraces his steps towards his Fathers House. He glimpses the soul the radiant Solar Angel or Solar Presence and recognises the true Self. Now Leo embarks on that journey to become that true Self.
When this occurs the personality rebels, it does not yield easily, on the contrary, with its rebellion a bitter fight ensues. As the strong Leo individual becomes aware and spiritually awakened they become aware of their self-motivating impulses and this leads them to an imposed self-discipline. The Leo subject needs this discipline, but, it must always be self-imposed and self-applied for they will take no discipline from others. We all need to observe this energy at this time, because no matter where we stand in the Zodiac we can all develop more discipline within ourselves.
